Some of my early works (1989)
The works displayed in this section were done while I was taking a drawing class from Eddie Hood at Butte Community College in Oroville, CA. This was right after I graduated from high school and had begun my engineering studies.
A Little Girl
'A little girl' was drawn from the cover of a National Geographic. I focused most of my attention on the eyes to capture the expression that was evident in them. I also experimented with charcoal for the background, which I have to say didn't work as well as I would have liked.
Portrait of a Young Woman
The portrait of a Young Woman was done from a photograph that one of my fellow students (Carolee) brought to class for me to work on. It was a photograph of her daughter. I thought she was quite beautiful, so I was happy to render this drawing.
More Recent Works
Crab critter
I did this big fellow in Gimp after watching Chris Scalf do some of his cool work on youtube. It's a bit rough, but I thought it was a good first try. (Ubuntu, Gimp, Wacom tablet)
Sketch and digital art coloring
These quick sketches I did and then scanned and used Gimp to color them. I was going for a simple look that might work for childrens book illustrations.
This little rough sketch of a city scape was done by pencil sketch, scanned and then inked in Gimp, then colored in ArtRage. I tried to get a more painted look.
Workerbot
Of course there has to be robots. Ahhhh....robots.
